Accessibility
Everyone should be able to use this site.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across this website and the console.
This site has not been independently audited against that standard. What follows is what we do today and what we know is not finished.
What we do
In place today.
- A skip link is the first thing on every page, so a keyboard user can jump straight to the content.
- Navigation links, buttons and form controls show a visible focus outline when reached by keyboard.
- Animation respects your settings. If your device asks for reduced motion, the moving effects on this site are toned down or stopped.
- Animated menu links keep their real names for screen readers while the letters move.
- Text contrast is measured automatically against WCAG AA, in both light and dark mode, because the site follows your device’s setting.
- The page language is declared, so screen readers pronounce it correctly.
- Status is never shown by colour alone. Every state on the status page is written out in words.
Not finished
What we know is missing.
- No independent audit yet. Until one is done, this page is our own account, not a certificate.
- Not every page marks its main content as a landmark yet. The skip link still works on every page; screen-reader landmark navigation is less complete than it should be.
